The Latin American Music Award has been presented every year by Telemundo for American music. It is the Spanish-speaking collaborator of the Dick Clark Productions American Music Awards (AMAs). Like the AMAs, a poll by the public and Music Buyers determines the Latin AMAs. The first Latin AMA was first held by Lucero on 8 October 2015. The prizes were not awarded in 2020 due to the pandemic of COVID-19 and had been resumed one year later. The Latin Music Awards have been absolutely incredible! The three-hour tournament, which was star-studded at the BB&T Center Sunrise, Florida, was broadcast live Thursday on Telemundo. The prizes were hosted by Jacqueline Bracamontes who honored best Latin music and played their hit track, “Tears of Gold” by David Bisbal, represented by Karol G, Ozuna, Anitta, Pitbull, Ricky Martin and Carrie Underwood. Following is the list of winners of Latin American Music awards 2021.
1. Favorite Album – pop
Camilo – Por Primera Vez
Today, Camilo will be here to remain, provided with a flawless conjunction of immaculate songwriting and an adaptive sensitivity to the pop. This performer and performer from Medellín, Colombia, wrote hit singles for artists such as Becky G, Karol G, Bad Bunny and several others before his debut as a major performer. Hits such as “Desconocidos” have been released with Mau y Ricky and Manuel Turizo, with the support of “La Tribu” and his own “Tutu” and Remix with Pedro Capó and Shakira. His final two records, Por Primera Manos and Por Primera Vez were successful internationally and would only continue expanding. Indeed, Camilo was shortlisted six times during the Latin American Music Awards this year thanks to his new single Por Primera Vez. Not that he was just nominated, he also won Latin American Music Award for Favorite Album – pop.
2. Song of the Year
Karol G, Nicki Minaj – Tusa
Karol G first appeared in the center of a Greek circle of sections with performers in this latest video of the song “Tusa.” Karol G is radiated by the natural light of the whole scene. The dancers’ breakdancing hands are surrounded by sun rays and long nails. Nicki’s instantly recognizable PINK luxurious aesthetics in the meantime hang out in the mansion. “Tusa” is a Colombian word used particularly in Antioquia and on the coast, that mostly defines the position of your conflict when your relationship ends. In Colombia most people use it; this is a publicly appropriate way to speak about it. It’s an acknowledgement, a desire for this inaccessible love. This song has everything to do with emotion. Chords perform sweet harmonies in the background, while beating still enables a wonderful perreo night.
3. Artist of the Year / Favorite Artist – Male
Bad Bunny
Since his arrival on stage in 2016, Bad Bunny, the leading singer in the world of urban music and producer, has become a dominant vocalist in the Latin trap. The most interesting fact is that before he released a new album, he accomplished this famous position. He appeared on four Top 100 singles alone in 2018. Born in 1994 in Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, he started singing at 5. His main inspirations were Héctor Lavoe, C’s Vico, Yankee’s Dad and Anthony’s Marc. His first-ever single, “Soy Peor” was made available in December 2016 and ultimately resulted in 22 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. His video has around 650,000,000 views. Bunny’s songs have recognized the love of indie rock for Cure, Radiohead and the police with its production and artistic nods. Tainy, “La Noche de Anoche,” with Rosalía, was one of just three alliances on the album. The others included “Sorry Papi,” which features Abra, Tainy, and “Dákiti,” with Jhay Cortez. It reached its peak in number one place on the Top 200 two weeks after release.
4. New Artist of the Year
Natanael Cano.
The graph musician and songwriter Natanael Cano is at the top of the list of the tumbados corrido’s activism of the 21st century whose artists contribute to Mexico’s 150-year-older folk song culture hip hop beats, production traits, rap and hollering. Known better for the 2019 remixing single “Soy el Diablo” that he had collaborated with Bad Bunny, Cano had been continuing to work in the aesthetic since mid-days, as exemplified by the smash YouTube singles “El F1” and “El Drip,” which had reached tens of millions. Apple Music’s Latin chart was topped by his song “El de la Codeína.” In extending the corrido, such as Arsenal Efectivo and Piso 21, Cano is part of the list of like-minded artists. Cano was born in 2001 in Hermosillo, Sonora. Although from a very early age he adored tunes, his family had no clue that he would be totally particularly drawn. When he was 16 he left school to play music full time and by 17 he posted videos on YouTube and other social media channels about his own songs. At 18 years of age, the Rancho Humilde label, an organization led by Jimmy Humilde, signed up for Cano and started releasing singles for SoundCloud and YouTube. Cano launched EP Trap Tumbado, produced by Play N in July 2020, as well as by the Young Hollywoods. In September he came back quickly with Soy El Nata, who was in cooperation with Ovi and Tyan G.
5. Favorite Artist – Female
Anitta
Brazilian Singer Anitta has been chanting in the Olympic Games and has become the answer of Brazil, like Rihanna, Beyoncé or Katy Perry and a major singer in the country. Born in Larissa de Macedo Machado on 30 March 1993, she started singing as a kid in Church and started to learn to dance before she was a teenager in the rough district of Honório Gurgel in Rio de Janeiro. Her stage name comes from the main figure in Mário Donato’s 1948 proto-lolita novel, the television miniseries Presença de Anita. At 17, a funk Svengali and superproducer DJ Batutinha observed one of her YouTube videos, that further brought her to audition him and then sign her on his label with the release of her first single, ‘ Eu Vou Ficar.’ In 2012, investor Kamilla Fialho bought her from her agreement. Anitta was authorized by Warner, who published her iconic debut album in 2013 on the basis of her single “Meiga e Abusada”.
6. Favorite Artist – Pop
Shakira
Shakira, who had a Lebanese dad and a Colombian mother of birth, started dancing belly at a young age and started writing songs at the age of 10. A local theatre producer helped her to hold the audition for a director of Sony corp. in 1990, followed by a record deal for Shakira. The first two albums, that being said, were only medium achievements, Magia (1991) and Peligro (1993), respectively. After a vacation from the playback to the Latin soap opera El oasis, Shakira continued her work with Pies descalzos in impressive fashion (1995). The album has made a number of hits, including ‘I am here,’ ‘I am thinking of you,’ and ‘Some love.’ For her best female pop vocal (“Ojos así”) and rock vocal performances (“Octavo día”), she ended up winning Latin Grammy Awards. Then she focused on building herself on the U.S. market. Her MTV Unplugged album was awarded the Grammy Award in 2001 for the best Latin Pop album and her first English album, Laundry Service, was published that same year. Even though some people were questioning her English songwriting skills, Laundry Service has sold more than 13 million reproductions all over the world. Shakira preceded her achievement also with crossover in 2005, with the Spanish Fijación oral published in June, vol. 1 and the English Oral Fixation in November, vol. 2. El Dorado also showcased the single, “La bicicleta,” a duet that won the award for best record of the year and best songs of the year with Carlos Vives. Shakira and Jennifer López played halftime in the Super Bowl in 2020.
